Freedom First

So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own town. Just then some men brought to Him a paralytic lying on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, "Have courage, son, your sins are forgiven.".....-then He told the paralytic, "get up, pick up your mat, and go home." Matthew 9:1-8

Jesus got into a boat, going home from work, an ordinary event. When He arrived home there were some people who had heard, perhaps seen and now believed. They brought a sick friend to Him.

This man needed, more than anything, to know his sins were forgiven. Perhaps he had done something wrong, perhaps his conscience was really troubling him, perhaps, like me, leading to salvation he became painfully aware of his sin. Jesus addressed his heart need, forgiveness.

I love my Lord for addressing real needs as He sees them. The man's friends were more concerned about his disability. Next the Lord addressed his physical problem. Without Him addressing the first the man may have struggled to believe and get up as commanded.

My Jesus sees right through to the problem and He deals with that first. Praise Him!

I am so grateful Lord for You have set me free, you forgave my sin and then brought me in. Amen!

Lord may I give such grace to others, to be so in tune with you that I touch the real need. Amen!
