Love Covers Me
As He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. Suddenly a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But He was sleeping. So the disciples came and woke him up, saying, 'Lord save us! We're going to die!"
But he said to them, "why are you fearful, you of little faith?' Then He got up and rebuked the wind and the sea. And there was a great calm.
The men were amazed and asked, "what kind of man is this? Even the winds and sea obey Him!"
Matthew 8:23-27
Last night I watched the movie 'The Tourist', in which the man been sought by authorities and thugs disguised himself, cleverly, and won the woman and the cash. He played the part of two men.
In the above verse we read about another man who played the part of two men, one God, one man. The constant learning for the disciples was that this man was more than what they saw. They were constantly drawn to believe that He was indeed God, yet He did not act like they thought a god would.
In the movie the man Alex, loved the woman, and funnily she chose him even when she did not know it was him.
The disciples were drawn to Jesus, even when they did not know who He was. His words amazed them. He healed the sick and drove out demons and now He stilled the storm. Love drew them. What manner of love was this?
The underlying theme is love. The God of Heaven so loved that He sent His son so that whoever would believe on Him would not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
Jesus, the God of Heaven, loved the scrappy fishermen, He loved the diseased lepers, the Gentile centurion, He loved the mother-in-laws, the children. He loved the faint hearted and did not disown them. He loves you and He loves me more than our ability to be a Christian, He loves us in our inability. Amen!
