Mustard Seed
The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches. Matthew 13:31,32
This scripture so encourages me. At times the bigness of the worldly ways of others seem to say to me, you can't come in here, I am bigger.
Yet the words of the kingdom are greater. The other day I had someone go off at me, unfairly and chose to let it go. My mother noticed and said to me 'I like the way you turn the other cheek.'I did not realise that was what I was doing, for at times I feel trampled on and useless. The person who went off apologised tonight and my mother tells me that they were sorry as soon as they spoke.
The kingdom of God and His ways are far greater than anything else and I can so trust it, because it never fails to accomplish that which it sets out to do.
I must live the gospel and let it speak. Tomorrow a good friend is being buried and my DivorceCare team are able to give tribute. We are using the scripture in 2Tim 4:7. It talks about fighting the good fight, keeping the faith until the end. My friend did that and we can honour him.
What will be said about us? Someone, someday will have to stand up and report on how we fared. How did we do?
