Perspective
To what should I compare this generation? It's like children sitting in a market place who call out to each other "we played a flute for you but you did not dance; we sang a lament but you did not mourn!"
For John did not comes eating and drinking, and they say, "He has a demon." The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, "Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!" Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds. Matthew 11:16-19
Sound familiar? Criticism is still rife, the kingdom of self still reigns. Arrogance and judgement still stop all over the truth and righteousness as if Lord. Ha! but the good news is Jesus is Lord!
The children in the market place are playing a game, much like Simon says. Children are by nature impulsive, selfish and demanding. They must be taught truth, and right thinking. This morning I went to take my eldest grandson to pre-school and he was very unhappy because his mother made him wear a shirt he did not like. I waited while he spent time out in his room coming to terms with the fact that he had no say in the decision. He is 5.
If Jesus is comparing the generation to children He is saying adults as well are just like children when it comes to recognising truth. First their must be a heart that wants to learn it. To come to that place takes an event. Last night I spent time talking to my boarder about eternity and how the time we spend here on earth is a training ground for eternity.
Folks we are here for such a short time and we are supposed to learn what we will need forever and ever. If we waste our time on self-indulgent behaviour we will waste our opportunity. What has God got in mind for me? I trust it is awesome as I am giving now my all so that I will be ready.
As I watch my family pack and get ready for their move to Brisbane, a lot closer than Dallas, I am reminded of how much I must now be made ready for what is to come. Tomorrow I pack for a trip to Tassie, will be there 10 days, Yay! My mother turns 80 and she has gone to Burnie to spend time with a sister of mine, hoping to escape a party. The party will go to her.
Today I am moving into my new office and I am making it ready to accommodate me for the next 12 months. Life is about being made ready for something each day. What are you being made ready for? Do you know? Is it a surprise?
Enjoy each day knowing that you are learning for your future!
