Who is Worthy?
When you enter any town or village, find out who is worthy, and stay there until you leave. Greet a household when you enter it, and if the household is worthy, let your peace be on it. But if it is unworthy, let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that house or town. Matthew 10:11-14
In this modern day if a preacher did this he would be condemned as having an attitude problem, a self-righteousness but then not many modern day preachers carry the power that these did either, we have diluted the whole experience.
Rejection of the gospel and of the preacher is real. Matthew likens the person who rejects the gospel to a dog or a pig in 7:6. 'Don't give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them with their feet, turn and tear you to pieces.'
Perhaps we spend too long with those who trample and become dejected and lose our power. It would pay us well to move on and search for those who are hungry for truth. When the hungry are given the food of life they devour it and are transformed. Amen!
