Words of Life

Just then, a woman who had suffered from bleeding for 12 years approached from behind and touched the tassel on His robe, for she said to herself, "if I can just touch His robe, I'll be made well!"
But Jesus turned and saw her, "have courage daughter," He said. "your faith has made you well". And the woman was made well from that moment. Matthew 9:20-22

Matthew, a true bloke, does not tell us how he knew what the woman was thinking, or how he knew she had bled for 12 years. However I know women. Upon receiving her miracle the woman probably babbled her story to Jesus and those around.

But what we do know is what Jesus said to her. "your faith has made you well." How do we get faith? Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God.

Fear will cause us to grasp at straws. Who do we listen to? Who has authority in our lives? Who has truth? Jesus said "my words are power and life." The apostles themselves said to him, "You alone have the words of Life."

Who's words do we submit to? Who do we submit to? Going to God takes courage, takes resolve, takes grit. Saying "no" to well meaning family and friends and drawing aside to wait on the Lord defies self-pity, emotion of any sort. it takes "No! I will wait!"

A sick person does not always have the luxury of being able to decide for themselves. Family, doctors, friends swing into action and take away their deciding power, they then submit to the worldly authorities. Scary thought!

I have a friend who is very sick and he told me that his biggest struggle was the faithlessness of those around him. Those around him did not see or seek Jesus for Him, like he wanted, they went with the medical flow.

As a friend my responsibility is to seek the Lord not others. What will I do? It is not about how his circumstance makes me feel, it is about 'what is Jesus doing?'

Jesus had to remove the faithless so He could see the miracle. I am re-reading Smith Wigglesworth and he had the same problem, his was greater, trying to find someone of faith to go and pray with him.

I will wait on God and seek His answer, He alone has the words of life. Amen!
