Compassion and Grace

As He stepped ashore He saw a huge crowd and had compassion for them, and healed their sick. Matthew 14:14

I am so grateful Lord that You could lay aside your own needs to reach out in compassion, thank You.

This morning I learnt that my girlfriend whose sister has terminal cancer had an opportunity to show grace to her family last weekend. She felt trampled, just like I had when I had difficult family go off at me, but like me she was able to minister. I told her how proud I was of her, and I am. Her good behaviour blesses me.

When Christ is allowed to shine grace oozes out of us, it can't help it, because that's what grace does, it permeates, saturates, smells good.

Tonight my neighbours dogs attacked my small Maltese and had her on the ground, she was crying pitifully and I ran to the rescue. I wanted to permanently remove the offending animal. The owner came to the door, full of apologies as his dogs are a constant annoyance. I managed to reach for grace and did not retaliate (sometimes I do get it right).

Earlier today I allowed the complaining weasel out for a trot and was convicted and yanked him back in. Not good! Stank!

The constant challenge is to reach for the spirit instead of the flesh. By grace I will get it right. Amen!
