Mercy not Sacrifice
Then the Pharisees and scribes came from Jerusalem to Jesus and asked, "WHy do Your disciples break with the traditions of the elders? For they don't wash their hands when they eat."
He answered them, "and why do you break God's commandment because of your tradition?" Matthew 15:1-3
Each one of us have tendencies to be religious about something. I have a boarder who leaves things open, you can tell where she has been, just follow the trail. I don't, I like completeness. You can guess what little religious thoughts come into my head. I have caught myself from agreeing with the critical thoughts that suggest it would be better she was not around. Where does that come from? The pit!
My boarder was a blessing and still is a blessing from God. 'Begon you critical thoughts. Lord I thank You for my boarder, she is a blessing to my life'.
It was ludicrous that the Pharisees pick on hand washing. Jesus did not answer their critical remarks but instead highlighted their own sin.
You see while we are pointing our crooked little finger at someone else we are blinded by the load of sin we carry. Start praising God for what is in your life, it is there for you to learn from. Life will get better in your circumstances as you praise. Amen!
