Recognise Him?
Once they crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. When the men of that place recognised Him, they alerted the whole vicinity and brought to Him all who were sick. Matthew 14:34,35
Recognition comes before release. I have to recognise Jesus in my circumstances before I can release Him to be Lord of my circumstances.
Yesterday I went to breakfast with some ladies. Several of us have businesses and at various times talked about a happening at our business. I know that I have to accept a person has an authority in a particular area for me to open up to them to speak into my world.
For example I had a computer issue and one of the ladies had a computer shop. I mentioned my problem and this lady waxed strongly about the solution. It prompted me to solve my issue but I did not go to her shop because I have an existing relationship with online help that is free through my work and that is what I used.
What are people used to doing when issues come up in their lives? Are they willing to accept the Jesus answer or are they looking to men or angels and demons?
Jesus had previously healed a lady in Capernaum and Gennesaret was only 5 miles away. Perhaps the people in Gennesaret had heard about the miracle as the lady had been ill for a very long time, perhaps she was well known, we are not told. The woman who was healed was healed by touching the hem of Jesus' garment. All the sick that came to Jesus wanted to do the same thing. It was as if they believed there was something magical about Jesus' robe.
People have not changed. Holy water, scapulas, holy cards, prayer beads, a certain statue, a certain prayer habit all capture the imagination with mystical promises, yet here is Jesus, living and breathing and willing to touch.
In my world people are spruiking about diet, exercise, vitamins, magical creams and potions. Some are locked into praying a certain way, or for a certain period of time. Anything that will distract from the presence of the One who wants to fellowship us and out of that fellowship comes all. Jesus said 'seek first the Kingdom and all these things will be yours.'
He is my life, He is my strength, he is my provision, He is my rest, He is my blessing, He is my lover and friend, He is my healer, He is all I need. Amen!
