Freedom in Repentance

Jesus said, "I came into this world for judgement, in order that those who do not see will see and those who see will become blind."
Some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these things and asked Him, "We aren't blind too are we?"
"If you were blind," Jesus told them, "you wouldn't have sin, but now that you say, 'we see' - your sin remains." John 9:29-41

Jesus had to contend with self-righteousness in those who said they were without sin - the Pharisees. They believed that by doing and being a certain way that they would escape judgement.

Today, nothing has changed. If I live as if I am blind yet say I see I have a problem. This is a matter of the heart.

The humble know they need God, the arrogant ignore their need and walk into judgement.

Repentance is such a beautiful, freeing attribute that is given us by God. He gives grace to the humble. I can personally attest that He enables me to be humble. I cannot repent unless He is in the equation.

I can say 'sorry' but my heart can be far from sorry. True repentance sets me free. Amen!
