Know Him

"I assure you: the one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And He will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in My name, I will do it."John 14:12-14

Does this scripture affect you like it does me? Myself I look at what I do in His name and what He did and recognise the gap. Why is this so?

Perhaps the first part of this reference gives a clue: "The one who believes in Me.." I know I love Him and believe in Him but perhaps there are levels of believing.

If I look at my earthly relationships I can say that as I get to know a person I come to know what I can believe they will do and not do, in other words I get to truly know them.

The more I get to know the Lord the more I believe He can and will do things in and through me. So therefore to be able to do the works that He did I have to take the time to get to know Him.

How do I get to know Him? Spending time with Him and allowing Him into areas of my life instead of struggling to make things happen myself.

The more I know Him, the more I love Him for He is faithful through and through. Amen!
