Breath of God

So Jesus said to them again, "peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you."
And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, " receive the Holy Spirit". John 20:21,22

Imagine how the disciples would be feeling. In the matter of days they saw their teacher arrested and treated shamefully and nailed to a cross. They had thought it was all over.

Coming to terms with their grief was interrupted with news that Jesus' body had disappeared and now here He is standing in their midst.

Now He was telling them that they had to go like He did. I wonder if they were thinking 'the cross' and reliving it's horrors. They were in hiding for fear if the Jews.

I am someone who is slow to process. I take in the information, especially difficult or painful information, and it has to work it's way down into my 'knower' and then I get it. When I don't have time to process I struggle.

I am sure that there was at least one like me in the group, and then there was Thomas who needed to see to believe, but as soon as he saw, he believed.

The fact that Jesus stayed on earth for a time after his resurrection tells me He was giving His disciples time to process and get the next step.

When Jesus breathed on His disciples they became the first Christians, the Holy Spirit came into their lives and helped with the process. A new chapter had begun.

When we ask Christ into our lives his Holy Spirt comes in and we become a 'born again' believer. The light switch is on in our 'spirit room' for the first time. Before that there was darkness.

When we receive the breath of God a new life begins and we relearn how to live, as a Christ one. The Holy Spirit who dwells within is our guide and as we then go on to have a 'Pentecost' experience we are empowered to live a great life in Him. Amen!

Tonight I have 4 lovely ladies coming to a church function, these ladies do not attend my church but know about the Lord, my prayer is that they know Him personally.

As Sunday approaches I am praying for souls. Being 'born again' must be the best experience of all times. Life begins in Him. Amen!
