A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even tempered.
Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue. Proverbs 17:27,28
Ah even temper, come to me! Last night I wrote about the Italians and their noisy robust ways, at times I not dissimilar.
The Lord is working a even temper into the fabric of my being, it is painful. He uses long waits on the telephones and suddenly when the other end takes my call the line drops out. I want to say aaaaaaah! But must say 'praise the Lord for He is good'.
I am having to wait longer away from home to achieve a desired end and the promised reports do not come, 'praise the Lord for He is good'.
Our God is interested in our character not comfort, the baby has to grow up.
I know, personally, to keep silent and not prattle on makes me 'feel' wise, much wiser than when I do prattle on. I know how the prattling of others drives me to distraction so I can appreciate that being a woman of few words can be appreciated by others.
I expect my grandchildren to rabbit on but find grown-ups who do it frustrating.
So, not only am I learning tolerance and a cool head, I am learning not to rabbit on. Praise God!
