Betrayal

Now it is not an enemy who insults me- otherwise I could bear it; it is not a foe who rises up against me-
Otherwise I could hide from him.
But it is you, a man who isy peer, my companion and good friend! We used to have close fellowship; we walked with the crowd into the house of God. Psalm 55:12-14

Betrayal must be the hardest thing to bear, when it is someone you care for.

I remember an older man who I in my church many years ago, he was like a father to me. There came a time when he asked me for help to bring out a woman from overseas who he wanted to marry. After much work on his behalf, when sitting in front of the tribunal, I discovered he had lied to me and used me, I was devastated.

Another time I had a woman become very friendly to me and I helped her and managed her affairs while she went overseas for 6 months. This was during a difficult time in my own life. When she returned she had nothing more to do with me. I felt used and betrayed.

We all have stories about someone we let get close and found ourselves used and betrayed.

King David did but more importantly so did our savior. He suffered just as we do. His betrayer put Him on the cross.

I now know my Lord as a close friend and He is faithful, He has never betrayed me. Church leaders might, church people might but He is faithful. Amen! This does not stop me attending church because my lord is there, it is His presence that I meet. I love to worship Him in the corporate body. It is good for my soul because that is where I belong. Amen!
