Deliverer
Oppose my opponents, Lord; fight those who fight me.
Take Your shields-large and small- and come to my aid.
Draw spear and javelin against my pursuers, and assure me: ' I am your deliverance.'
Let those who seek to kill me be disgraced and humiliated; let those who plan to harm me be turned back and ashamed. Let them be like chaff in the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them away.
Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord pursuing them. Psalm 35:1-6
David spent a time being chased by those who had a warped intent. The king, Saul, was filled with jealousy because God's anointing had left him and was upon David. He rages against David and sought to kill him.
I can imagine being on the run; living in caves and in foreign lands; wet, frozen, hungry at times; would constantly test David's faith.
Yet David kept looking to the Lord demanding His deliverance because He was the One in whom He trusted.
I look to the Lord for His protection, blessing, fulfillment of all His promises to me. At times things are hard, cold and I have been in want, yet He is there. Fields of abundance are mine, a hope and a future He gives, restoration He promises.
My times are in His hands, He holds all things together, my hope is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth, He is God! Amen!
