Sacrifices and Offerings

Whoever sacrifices a thank offering honors me, whoever orders his conduct, I will show him the salvation of His God. Psalm 50:23

In the preceding verses God is rebuking the wicked for reciting His statutes and hating his brother. He was also telling His people He wasn't into all the slaughter of animals.

God has never been into ritualism. Why do I go to church? If is only because 'I should' then that is not enough. God wants me to visit Him.

If church is a social outing just to see friends, then that is not enough, I am missing an opportunity to see the greatest, most perfect one of all.

If I give at church it can't be ritualistic it has to be a sacrifice of praise or I waste my money.

If I give to Him expecting Him to use it for His glory, care for it and bring blessing into my world, through His ways and means then I trust Him with it and do not hold the church to ransom. It keeps my attitude right.

I have spoken to many who were jaded with God because they had given and not been blessed. If I give to get then that won't work either, faith and love must be present.

This week I did two love jobs for clients, I put my gift into God's hand and trusted Him. I also had a client tell me I would get paid even if they did not proceed. They had in mind a certain sum, different to what I expected and I accepted that because it is God who moves the hearts of men, it is God who is in charge and He pays well.

Last week I had a man give me an envelope full of scratches because I had found his wallet. I knew that this was not God's provision because gambling is not His source for me.

My God is a jealous God and I trust Him to provide the way He chooses and He does, handsomely. This makes Him my lover and friend not just an ATM.

My offering must come out of my love and gratitude for who He is!
