Kind and Ready to Forgive

For You Lord are kind and ready to forgive, rich and faithful love to all who call on You.
Lord hear my prayer; listen to my plea for mercy.
I call on You in the day of my distress, for God will answer me. Psalm 86:5-7

David knew the Lord was ready to forgive. His understanding of the Lord was not common.

Today people who do not know God do not understand His desire to forgive. His desire is so great that He sent His Son to bring us back by paying the price.

How did David know this? He spent time courting the Lord, walking with the Lord, relying on the Lord, running to the Lord, loving the Lord.

How do you and I know the faithfulness of the Lord? We constantly choose Him as our defense, our comfort, our provider, our lover, our friend, our counsellor, our guide, our savior.

David's language: 'plea for mercy' can be foreign to someone who has not had a revelation of their deepest need. The real truth is: without Him I am undone, I am a fleshpot without redemption. I not clever, He is clever in me.

His mercy is what I seek. As I seek Him and his mercy I am truly saved.
