After this the Lord appointed 70 others, and He sent them ahead of Him in pairs to every town and place He Himself was about to go. He told them: "the harvest is abundant but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to The Lord of the harvest to send workers out into the harvest. Luke 10:1,2
Who were the 70? We don't get to know their names. Did they endure past the cross? We're they there in the upper room?
In the last verse if chapter 9 Jesus says: "no one who puts their hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the Kingdom of God."
What does He mean? There is only one way and that is forward. He warned the 70 He was sending them out like sheep amongst wolves but they returned rejoicing that even the demons submitted.
What causes us to look back? Disillusionment? Jesus had plainly spelled out what was going to happen so how could they become disillusioned?
We are disillusioned when we create an outcome Jesus has not mentioned. It is our own minds that receive deception and discouragement.
I have come to distrust emotional highs with grandiose thoughts and ideas. The Lord's ways are best and if the vision is His it will prevail. Amen!
