Giving the Best!

"You feed them", He said. Luke 9:13

The disciples had returned from their first missionary journey and they were full of excitement, Jesus took them to a deserted place so they could talk but the relentless crowd showed up. The disciples said, "send them away so they can get something to eat and somewhere to stay. Then Jesus said, " you feed them".
Hands up who think this was a test! I do!

Do you find that when you are out of grace, energy and juice someone turns up wanting something and then you have to dig deep and firstly find grace.

Today was one o those days. I am in a strange town working, things have not worked out quite like I planned and tomorrow is my sons birthday.

As I am on my way to see him tomorrow he only asked for one thing for his birthday, a Battenburg cake. I finished my last appointment at 7pm, I had had a long, hot, frustrating day. I remembered my sons request but did I feel like cooking it? No! So I called him, " do you still want a Battenberg cake?" (Silly question) " well mum that was the deal", he said.

I am staying at Stannum house, an old house in Tenterfield, NSW, that take in travellers. I bought the ingredients and went back to ask permission to cook in the kitchen.

Well I dug deep and had fun and got to talk to the owner, I was blessed! I found the grace and phoned my son. "Cake done!". I know how much he loves this cake so I know he will be looking forward to my arrival, it will be the beat present I can give.

Jesus was and still is good at giving the best presents. His finest was Himself.

He wants us to do likewise, we have what it takes if we just dig. Amen!
