On another Sabbath He entered the synagogue and was teaching. A man was there whose right hand was paralyzed. The scribes and Pharisees were watching Him closely, to see if He would heal on the Sabbath, so they could find a charge against Him. But He knew their thoughts and told the man with the paralyzed hand, "get up and stand here." So he got up and stood there. Then Jesus said to them, "I ask you: is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or destroy it?" After looking around at them all, He told him, "stretch out your hand." He did so, and his hand was restored.
They, however, were filled with rage and started discussing with one another what they might do to Jesus. Luke 6:6-11
Self-righteousness feel quite justified in hate. The Pharisees and Scribes were full of self-importance that caused them to miss what God was doing.
I have neighbors who have had a party a night since Christmas and even though I wear ear plugs at times it is hard to get to sleep.
This morning I was tempted to 'get even' by going out into the yard and making a Lot of noise as I know my neighbors sleep in. Do you know how that thought made me feel? Bitter and twisted, unclean. The Lord then reminded me that vengeance is His, He will repay. My concern should be their souls.
Hard times in our own lives can also make us hate those who do not care. Wastefulness in the world around us can cause us to hate and in our own self-righteousness we can feel justified. It is our God who provides and He does it His way so that He gets the glory. No amount if manipulation by man brings glory.
Keep your heart clean and see God's glory! Allow Him to be great in you! Amen!
