What Father among you , if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him? Luke 11:11-13
Although we might only be asking for elementary gifts like food, clothing, housing our Heavenly Father has a greater gift, the basis of our relationship with Him, the Holy Spirit, and from a relationship built on the presence of the Holy Spirit comes all things.
Jesus was saying our Heavenly Father will not deceive us. He will not give us evil instead of good. We can trust Him!
In Matthew 6 we are exhorted to seek first the Kingdom of God, and then all these things will be added. (Matthew 6:33)
Our challenge is to trust Him and defy fear. Amen!
