Powerful Faith

A centurion's slave, who was highly valued by him, was sick and about to die. When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to Him, requesting Him to come and save the life of His slave. Luke 7:2,3

This story helps illustrate whom Jesus came for. Jesus' death on the cross opened the door to us Gentiles. Jesus was not restricted by race, He portrays an aspect of the Father who wanted all men to know Him, not just a few Jews.

The centurion had a revelation about faith. He was used to not being allowed into the Jewish synagogue and the temple, to being considered unclean. Yet as a leader he understood authority. The reason he did not go to Christ himself is he considered himself unworthy.

Yet Jesus had no problem with his request. He had come to seek and save that which was lost. If you are lost from Him then you are eligible, your skin color does not matter. The Centurion did all that was required, he asked. Amen!
