Then He said to them all, "if anyone wants to come with me He must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of me will save it." Luke 9:23,24
What Jesus was saying was like: " if you want to ride on this train you pay the fare." He was not giving a suggestion but a command.
I have a grandson whose constant complaint is:"that's not fair", whenever things don't go his way. I said to him when playing a game with him, "fair does not play games".
Neither does 'fair' belong in life. There is only One who is Good and that is God. He is just and fair but life is not. People are wired for self first, second and third, without Christ as the centre.
Each one of us has a cross and every one is different. Living as a Christian in an unfair world is requires us to cop it sweet without complaining.
Christ has been tempted in every way, just like us, so He knows what we go through. He walked in our shoes.
Why not throw out the complaining weasel and turn to Christ for strength, He has more than enough power to share. Amen!
