The Repentant Heart

Then he went to work for one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. He longed to eat his fill from the carob pods the pigs were eating, but no one would give him any.

When he came to his senses, he said, "how many of my fathers hired hands have more than enough food, and here am I dying of hunger! I will get up and go to him and say to him, father I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I'm no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired hands. So he got up and went to his father. Luke 15:15-20

How wise is repentance! It is genuine, deep and heartfelt.

I love to find repentance and not just 'sorry'. 'Sorry' is too keen to move on and expects exhonoration without remorse.

Sorry is very self-centred and shallow.

This son 'came to his senses', he had a revelation of truth.

It is amazing what we must go through to find truth.

Jesus once told a story about two sons who the father asked to go out into the fields. One said, "no!" but later repented. Whereas one said "yes" but did not go. He then asked which was the better, which do you think?

Repentance is powerful and most desired! Amen!
