Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer. Romans 12:12
As I have written in a previous blog about Hope; hope is the experience of the goodness and faithfulness of God. Hope sustains us when we are stretching out in faith, it is the guard rail as we walk the treacherous path.
I need to take time to remember God's faithfulness to me, His unfailing love and rejoice, Hope is my comfort, my security knowing that 'no weapon formed against me will prosper', as I stand in His faithfulness.
Hope enables me to be patient in affliction. Why do I need to be patient? I need patience to wait and see the goodness of our God. He is there for me! As I am patient I see the scripture: ' All things work together for good, for those who love God.' (Romans 8:28)
If I am impatient I will go in my own strength and probably make things worse or injure myself further.
I must be persistent in prayer. Jesus taught the disciples to pray without ceasing. He used stories to illustrate His point. One of my favourites is the woman who was being treated unjustly and went to the local judge for justice. Her persistence won her a result, not her petition. Jesus said we should be like this woman and never give up. Amen!
To get back to this simplicity I must wait on the Holy Spirit, He can take me there, He can take you there. Trust Him! Amen!
