A Long View
A man of God came from Judah to Bethel by a revelation from The Lord while Jeroboam was standing beside the altar to burn incense. The man of God cried out against the altar by a revelation from The Lord: " altar, altar, this is what The Lord says, ' a son will be born to the house of David, named Josiah, and he will sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who are burning incense on you. Human bones will be burned on you. He gave a sign that day. He said, " this is the sign that The Lord has spoken: the altar will now be ripped apart, and the ashes that are on it will be poured out." I Kings 13:1-3
In 2 kings 23:17 Josiah had the bones of the dead false priests dug up and burned just as the prophesy foretold. This happened some 300 years later.
After Solomon the kingdom was divided between Solomon's son Rehoboam, who's foolishness caused him to lose all of the tribes except the tribe of Judah, and Jeroboram son of Nebat. He had refused to listen to the wise men and instead listened to his friends who had no wisdom.
Israel and Judah were now in trouble. They both had evil, unrepentant kings, but God had a plan.
Reborham's grandson Asa would follow The Lord and destroy his fathers and grandfather's idolatry.
Whether there is a straight spirit or a wicked spirit in us God has a plan. Way back then, God had a divine plan. He would send His own Son, sinless, who would make a way of redemption back to Him.
I know that I would rather keep a straight spirit for the sake of my grandchildren. I will pray for my children and grandchildren and seek to open the gates of righteousness so that my God can reign.
My view is long, down through the ages. May godliness rule!! Amen!
