Insight, foresight are God's!
When the king of Aram was waging war against Israel, he conferred with his servants, "my camp will be at such and such a place."
But the man of God sent word to the king of Israel, "be careful in passing by this place, for the Arameans are going down there." Consequently, the king of Israel sent word to the place that the man of God told him about. The man of God repeatedly warned the king, so the king would be on his guard.
The king of Aram was enraged because of this matter, and he called his servants and demanded of them, "tell me, which one of us is for the king of Israel?"
One of the servants said, " no one, my Lord the king. Elisha the prophet in Israel, tells the king of Israel every word you speak in your bedroom." 2 Kings 6:8-12
Our God is in charge, we do not call the shots as much as we become enamoured with our positions and the people that follow, He is still God.
I think it is funny that the servant told the king that Elisha heard everything, even what was said in the king's bedroom. When it was shown that God showed Elisha what was being said about an ambush how easily it is assumed that God allowed Elisha to hear everything. Superstition is a marvellous thing.
What happened next is typical of a leader who relied on his own strength. the King of Aram sent his armies to capture Elisha, but God had a plan. The servant of Elisha saw the kings armies but Elisha saw God's armies surrounding the kings armies. May we see what God is doing and not what the bullies are doing.
So often the bullies in life come against us and have knives in their tongues. Our shield of faith must be up at all times. Our God has a bigger and better plan. Amen!
