Kingdom Focus
And tell Archippus, "Pay attention to the ministry you have received in The Lord, so that you can accomplish it". Colossians 4:17
Archippus was a son of Philemon. What was he being called back from? His father was a wealthy business man. Did Archipus become embroiled in business or was he inclined to waste time. We do not know but this verse serves to remind us that each of us has a ministry that we need to focus on.
Young people today tent to want to travel before settling down into further study or a career. Being a young person or an old person is no excuse for 'time out' from ministry, unless it is a rest we need due to illness or exhaustion. Ministry can be accomplished no matter what the occupation.
Above all we are ambassadors for Christ. No matter where we are, we are ambassadors. We can retain a Christ focus in all our life, in good times and bad times, in sickness and in health ( sounds like a marriage covenant doesn't it?)
We can become unduly preoccupied with our circumstances, our troubled emotions, our joy and miss what God is doing right around us.
This life is not about us and our satisfaction. Jesus said:"seek first the Kingdom, and all other things will be added!"
As we pursue anything but the Kingdom, it seems to vanish or become dim. We can have God given plans but lose our Christ focus and lose our way.
TrustGod that He will bring all things together! Amen!
