Pure Passion
Then Elijah ordered them, "seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let even one of them escape." So they seized them, and Elijah brought them down to the Wadi Kishon and slaughtered them there. 1 kings 18:40
Death to the idolatry! When I was a teenager there was a big push to destroy all our old records and a sign we were totally the Lords. I ended up with one LP record, a Christian album. I don't know that the young people do that any more and I don't know the value of what we did except we were zealous for The Lord and evangelism. We ran a coffee shop and had teams going downtown to find lost teenagers who wanted to come and talk about Christ. In a back room another team prayed. It was an awesome time.
Being zealous and having single focus is good because while you are in that space you are not walking in the flesh as much and being hungry for the word of god consumes you. If there was not a meeting we created one. Friday night was youth discipleship night. We had a mini-church. Saturday night was outreach and we were on fire and loving it.
Oh for more fire! Having the fire of God in your life is purifying, revitalising, productive. Boldness is upon you and nothing is impossible.
We had a pastor we nick names PB (Pastor Bill), he looked like a wharfie but he was soft with us sheep and fierce with the enemy. We regularly had visits from bikie gangs and other thugs who used to inhabit our new premises. PB fixed them and we loved him for that. He was a great man of God. We has regular revival tent crusades and saw many come to Christ. The power of God was mighty in our midst.
What a glorious time to come to The Lord! It was all or nothing with our God then, it still is today except we have changed the rules a little to accommodate a few idols.
Time for a bonfire?
