Right Time, Right People

Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon when he heard that he had been anointed king in his father's place, for Hiram had always been friends with David. Solomon sent this message to Hiram: "you know my father David was not able to build a temple for the name of Yahweh his God. This was because of the warfare all around him until The Lord put his enemies under his feet. The Lord God has now given me rest all around; there is no enemy or crisis. So I plan to build a temple for the Name of Yahweh my God, according to what The Lord promised my father David: I will put your son on your throne in your place, and he will build the temple for my name." 1kings 5:1-5

There are seasons and men for those seasons. One man will plow the field and another will sow the grain and another reap the harvest. David has struggled with a desire to build The Lord a house but God had other plans.

Although the temple was going to happen, it had to wait until the right person was on the throne and the right circumstances were in place.

We can struggle to birth something we know is right but fail only because it is not the right season. In the right season, with the right people the plans are completed.

David had to learn to give up the dream even though he loved The Lord with a passion, God had a bigger plan.

We have the benefit of reading the history, David was caught up in the history. We can see how right it was for Solomon to build the temple. He was a totally different person to his father.

We, as David had, need to trust The Lord for the big picture. Amen!
