Serve With All Diligence

The time had come for The Lord to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elijah and Elisha were travelling from Gilgal, and Elijah said to Elisha, "stay here; The Lord is sending me on to Bethel." But Elisha said, " As The Lord  lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you." So they went on to Bethel.
2 Kings 2:1,2

When Elijah had fled from Jezebel he urged his servant to stay behind and the servant did so willingly. I wonder if he had said the same thing as Elisha would the story have changed?

From the outset Elisha was passionate and hungry, not wanting to miss out. Nothing would dissuade him.

Being able to recognise God for ourselves is important. A servant can be an eternal servant with blinkers on and never progress or have a hunger for more and constantly on the look out for the more.

You might be an employee and have an eternal hunger for your own business. To progress you must be hungry and in the process diligent and passionate about your employer's clients as you would be your own.

Every story you read about how a nobody became a somebody involved a period of time when they were a happy servant, diligent in what they had to do.

If you are called to minister then serve with all your heart. It is The Lord who releases. He is watching and will make a way. Amen!
