Trust Beyond Exhaustion
Ahab told Jezebel everything that Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. So Jezebel sent a message to Elijah saying: "may the gods punish me and do so severely if I don't make your life like the life of one of the prophets you killed by this time tomorrow."
Then Elijah became afraid and immediately ran for his life. 1 kings 19:1-3
Ahab is a spineless troublemaker. He did not have the intestinal fortitude to repent or deal with Elijah now that he had him. Rather he went and reported to Jezebel and let her loose. This type of person is dangerous.
Elijah would have been exhausted. He would have come down from the emotional high of seeing God's faithful appearance and display of power; the destruction of all the prophets of Baal; the intercession for rain; the superhuman run back to Jezreel and now the blatant unrepentant attack by Jezebel and knowing that Ahab had not learnt a thing.
It is understandable why Elijah ran. But even in running God was with him and was taking him back to the starting point where He planned to reveal Himself to Elijah in a still small voice, a gentle, loving, understanding God.
Whether God uses you mightily or you struggle to believe He would use you, He does not change, is not an ogre and He loves you dearly. Trust Him!
In our humanness we can imagine how things will work out and they rarely do so what do we bother? God has a big plan and it is the best plan. Rest, let Him be God and be patient and watch Him, because He wants to astound you. Amen!
