Wisdom or Relationship or Both?
The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there because it was the most famous high place. He offered 1,000 burnt offerings on that altar. At Gibeon The Lord appeared toSolomon in a dream at night. God said, "ask. What. Should I give you?" And Solomon replied, " you've shown great and faithful love to you servant, my father David, because he walked before You in faithfulness, righteousness, and integrity. You have continued this great and faithful love for him by giving him a son to sit on the throne, as it is today. Lord my god, You have now made Your servant king in my father David's place. Yet I am just a youth with no experience I leadership. Your servant is among Your people You have chosen, a people too numerous to be numbered or counted. So give Your servant an obedient heart to judge Your people and to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?"
Now it pleased The Lord that Solomon had requested this. 1 Kings 3:4-10
God was pleased that Solomon requested an obedient heart and wisdom and because of this made him the wisest man to ever live, also the richest. He had not asked for this.
When I invited Christ into my life I did so because I had searched for Him for 19 yes and longed for the relationship only He could offer. Do you remember what motivated you?
Jesus desired relationship with His Heavenly Father and lived out of that relationship. We do not see Him asking for wisdom yet He was wise because of His relationship with His Heavenly Father.
What is your desire? What do you want from The Lord?
When God created Adam and Eve He created them for relationship and they wanted the knowledge of good and evil and as a result were separated from their God's relationship.
Solomon did well to ask for wisdom and obedience above riches or military might, his father had relationship and it kept him better than all the wisdom that Solomon possessed. What would you choose?
What is most important? Jesus said: "seek first the kingdom of God and all His righteousness and all these things will be added to you." What do you say?
