Yielding

Ahab said to Elijah, "so you have caught me, my enemy." Elijah replied, "I have caught you because you have devoted yourself to do what is evil in the Lord's sight". 1 Kings 21:20

Ahab  wanted what was not his and when he could not get it, sulked. As a result his wife Jezebel hatched a plot to have the true owner stoned to death because of a trumped up charge against him. When Ahab got what he wanted he went to take possession and that is when Elijah was despatched by The Lord to confront him.

Ahab was continually in trouble because of the choices he made in life. At the core of his being there was not much good. His heart was anywhere but in God's word.

Have you ever met anyone like Ahab? They take what is not theirs and have no problem with the decision. They have given themselves to a belief system that is totally false and based on what they themselves want and desire. Each if us have a part if this nature, it is the sin nature we were born into.

As Christ's followers we are called to lay down our lives for others and can only do this with the aid of the Holy Spirit working in us. Our own wants are fulfilled as we yield our desires to Christ.

As we yield, and yield, and yield, we break the hold of darkness in our lives. Yielding I the key to becoming Christlike. Yet trying to be like Christ in our own efforts is futile. By making Him head in our yielding we succeed. Amen!
