Your Mission

Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the message, to speak the mystery of the Messiah, for which I am in prison, so that I may reveal it as I am required to speak. Act wisely towards outsiders, making the most of the time. Your speech should always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person. Colossians 4:2-6

The opening verse is a command: 'devote yourself to prayer'. What does that look like? Living a monastic life? No!

As we devote ourselves to something we make it a practice, a habit, doing it regularly. If we go to pray first, when trouble comes, then complaining has no time. Prayer strengthens us! It gives a heavenly focus, a Godly mindset as we lay all before the throne of God.

If we need direction, go to prayer. If we need provision, go to prayer. If we are in conflict, go to prayer. If we want to celebrate, go to prayer in thanksgiving. If prayer is our first port of call,  bathe all of our world in God.

Paul asked for prayer that doors may be opened for him to preach the gospel. This is important. Pastor Reinhard Bonke is in Kenya at the moment on another mission, pray for openness of the gospel. I have a girlfriend in Japan as a missionary, I pray an open heaven over Toyshina today. Amen! During the week I received a request to pray for a pastor in a Chinese prison, look keep that man in You.

Be wise when around unsaved folk, don't lazily collect among yourselves and not make room, season your words, don't complain, speak of what God has done for you. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to season your world with the salt of the gospel, in all grace.

Be Christ ones today! Shine your light! Amen!
