He is Mighty!

I turned to see whose voice it was that spoke to me. When I turned I saw seven gold lamp stands, and among the lamp stands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long robe and with a gold sash wrapped around His chest. His head and hair were white like wool-white as snow- and His eyes like a fiery flame. His feet were like fine bronze as if fired in a furnace, and His voice like the sound of cascading waters. He had seven stars in His right hand; a sharp double-edged sword came from His mouth, and His face was shining like the sun at midday. Revelation 1:12-16

I have been spending time listening to the album : Bless The Lord oh My Soul released 07/05/2013. It is full of powerful worship songs. One in particular is called 'whom Shall I Fear?' ( God of Angel Armies)

Part of the song says:'I know the One who goes before me, I know the One who stands behind, the God of Angel Armies is always by my side.' This song conjures up the image above for me. My God is powerful, full of light. There is no darkness in Him, no shadow of turning.

When I read the phrase ' His voice like the sound of cascading waters', reminds me of another image. In the movie trilogy 'Lord of the Rings' Frodo and the Circle of protectors who travelled with him visited the Elfin Queen Galadriel (the lady of Lorien and grandmother of Arwen) in the Golden wood where she lived with her husband Lord Celeborn. Lady Galadriel knew Frodo was carrying the ring of power and although she was tempted to receive it from him showed Frodo what the ring would do to her. Her face shone like fire and her voice changed like the sound of cascading waters. She knew the ring would make her like a god but she would battle evil that it brought.

Our Jesus is not tempted, He is God, He rules over all and stripped evil of it's power. He is the great I AM. We need not fear Him for He is all that is whole, righteous and true.

Know Your Sword!

So he took Him to Jerusalem, had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "if you are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. For it is written: 'He will give His angels orders concerning You, to protect you, they will support You with their hands, so that you will not strike Your foot against a stone.' Luke 4:9-11 In this third test Satan quoted scripture but Jesus knew His scripture and was not going to be deceived by his enemy twisting the truth. I am amazed at what Satan tempted Jesus with. He did not know Christ. He had succeeded in tempting the first Adam yet he was thwarted in this attempt. Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
