He Never Changes
When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature , "Come!" Then another horse went out, a fiery red one, and it's rider was empowered to take peace from the earth, so that the people would slaughter one another, and a large sword was given to him. Revelation 6:3,4
The fiery red colour could more symbolise the nature of the destruction that the rider brought. The rider was empowered to take peace from the earth. The rider was granted authority by a third party. This riders influence would be felt worldwide. Not that every one is at war but the effects are felt worldwide.
The killings would be brutal. The large sword denotes large power.
As I read this I think of the brutality I have seen in my lifetime. The senseless murders of countless races all because another deems them worthless.
Yet I am reminded that my God is greater. I am reminded of John Newton who was a brutal slave trader and The Lord reached out and redeemed him. It is so easy to succumb to the belief that the evil is all powerful, but my God is greater.
Whilst evil is rampant our God is not impotent. He never changes. Amen!
