Sexual Immorality
"Write to the angel of the church in Thyatira:
The Son of God, the One whose eyes are like a finery flame and whose feet are like fine bronze says: "I know your works-your love, faithfulness, service, and endurance. Your last works are greater than your first. But I have this against you: you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and teaches and deceives My slaves to commit sexual immorality and to eat meat sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent but she does not wish to repent of her sexual immorality. Look! I will throw her into a sickbed and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her practices. I will kill her children with the plague. Then all the churches will know that I am the One who examines minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you according to your works. I say to the rest of you in Thyatica, who do not hold to this teaching, who haven't known the deep things of Satan- as they say- I do not put any other burden on you. But hold on to what you have until I come. The one who is victorious and keeps My works to the end:I will give authority over the nations-
And He will shepherd them with an iron sceptre; he will shatter them like pottery-
Just as I have received this from My Father, I will also give him the morning star."
Anyone who has an ear should listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. Revelation 2:18-28
Sin can cloak itself in righteousness by claiming prophetic powers yet the ones who eat at that table are strangely deluded.
We may tolerate the sinners too far as in the case above. This woman had been given time to repent but now she was to be judged by The Lord and thrown into a sickbed. As Jezebel was wicked through and through and blatantly followed the worship of Baal, this woman was cloaked under the guise of great Christian faith and power, yet she was just as rotten. Her greatest sin was leading others astray into sexual immorality and eating meat offered to idols.
There were those who remained faithful to The Lord and He was encouraging them to be steadfast as their reward would be great.
How does this apply to us? Don't tolerate evil practices by those who profess to be above the ordinary. Know that Jesus carries an iron sceptre with which He shepherds and He will not tolerate those who lead others into wicked practices.
Stay faithful, keep close and keep hearing the truth! Amen!
