The Dragon Thrown Out of Heaven
Then war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels also fought, but he could not prevail, and there was no place for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was thrown out- the ancient serpent, who is called the devil and satan, the one who deceives the whole world. He was thrown to earth, and his angels with him.
Then I heard a loud voice say:
"The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Messiah have now come, because the accuser of our brothers has been thrown out: the one who accused them before our God day and night.
They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not love their lives in the face of death.
Therefore rejoice, you heavens, and you who dwell in them!
Woe to the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you with great fury, because his time is short." Revelation 12:7-12
Isaiah 14:12-15 tells a similar tale about Satan's fall from heaven. Yet even the apostle Paul said that Satan was the prince of the power of the air. Ephesians 2:2
We know Satan is the accuser of the brethren but perhaps we did not imagine him still having access to the throne room where he went to accuse the brethren, day and night. Therefore the need for Christ our intercessor who intercedes on our behalf, seated at the right hand of God.
What is good to know is that in the establishment of Christ's reign, he is finally cast out, to accuse no more. We are seeing, behind the scenes the preparation for Christ's earthly rulership. Satan is first dealt with in the heavenlies.
The angel Michael is instrumental in casting Satan out, along with his horde of evil angels. The heavens rejoice but woe to the earth.
Yet, the Christian overcomes the accuser by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. As our confession lines up with the word of God power is released and miracles happen. Amen!
