Mary's Song

And Mary said:
"My soul proclaims the greatness of The Lord,
And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour,
Because He has looked with favour on the humble condition of His slave.
Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed,
Because the mighty One has done great things for me, and His name is holy.
His mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear Him.
He has done a mighty deed with His arm;
He has scattered the proud because of the thoughts of their hearts;
He has toppled the mighty from their thrones and exalted the lowly.
He has satisfied the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty.
He has helped His servant Israel, mindful of His mercy,
Just as He spoke to our ancestors,
To Abraham and his descendants forever.

And Mary stayed with her about three months; then she returned to her home. Luke 1:46-54

Mary had a heart to praise, she was blessed out of her socks for being chosen to bear the Messiah. Her song above discloses her heart toward The Lord.

Now, I can imagine there were concerns. For example had Joseph, at this point, decided to marry her? Had she wondered what sort of mother she would be for the Son of God? How had her family and community reacted to her pregnancy? Had she told them?

However, Mary chose to focus on the joy. She was doing what her heart desired to do. Praise The Lord!

What has God done in your life? Are you focussing on the difficulty in the birth if your dream or the joy that God is on your side? Start praising and see things change. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
