Zechariah's Prophesy

Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:
Praise The Lord, the God of Israel,
Because He has. Insisted and provided redemption for His people.
He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David, just as He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets in ancient times, salvation from our enemies and from the clutches of those who hate us.
He dealt mercifully with our fathers and remembered His holy covenant- the oath at He swore to our father Abraham.
He has given us the price ledge, since we have been rescued from our enemies clutches, to serve Him without fear in holiness and righteousness in His presence all our days.
And child, you will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before The Lord to prepare His ways, to give His people knowledge of salvation through forgiveness of their sins.
Because of our God's merciful compassion, the Dawn from on high will visit us to shine on those who live in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the ways of peace.
The child grew up and became spiritually strong, and he was in the wilderness until the day of his public appearance to Israel. Luke 1:67-80

Zechariah had been dumb for 9 months and as soon as he wrote down what his son was to be named he spoke. I imagine he had plenty of time to think and ponder what God was actually up to and as soon as he could speak it all came gushing out like a pure stream in prophesy.

Zechariah knew the scriptures and he would have gone to them to study what they said about his son, with pride, I no doubt. What an honour! He would also have studied what they said about the coming Messiah.

As Zechariah and Elizabeth were already old when John was born they may not have been around for long as he was growing up, possibly this is why he lived in the wilderness. I imagine that Zechariah and Elizabeth would have given him their best and trained him in righteousness from an early age.

When we view our circumstances from God's perspective we enter the spirit realm and catch the flow of the spirit. It is an awesome place to be. The stream of the spirit is positive and full of power, it is 'Yes' and 'Amen!' Territory.

Start to praise God for His word and look at Him and not your circumstances and watch Him move. Don't try and control Him with your emotional bent on life, rather, change your perspective to His point of view. Amen!
