Intercessory Prayer
In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three full weeks. I didn't eat any rich food, no meat or wine entered my mouth, and I didn't put any oil on my body until the three weeks were over. On the 24th day of the first month, as I was standing on the banks of the great river Tigris, I looked up and there was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like topaz, his face like the brilliance of lightening, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and feet like the gleam of polished bronze, and the sound of his words like the sound of the multitude.
Suddenly, a hand touched me and raised me to my hands and knees. He said to me, "Daniel, you are a man treasured by God. Understand the words I am saying to you. Stand on your feet, for I have now been sent to you. After he said this to me, I stood trembling.
Don't be afraid, Daniel, he said to me, from the first day that you purposes to understand and to humble yourself before your God, you prayers were heard. I have come because of your prayers. Daniel 10:2-6;10-12
Daniel was an intercessor. He was troubled about something, he had a burden, and purposes to pray and do a vegetable fast.
He was rewarded by an angelic visitation. The angel told him he was treasured by God.
The angel had battle to get to Daniel for 21 days and Arc angel Michael had to come to his aid. Daniel's prayer was heard when he first prayed it. Yet his answer took 21 days to arrive.
If we are given to prayer, The Lord can place His burden on our hearts. As I travel with work, there have been times when I have prayed intercessory prayer for up to two hours while I travel. I remember being burdened for my country and the elections that were pending. I cried out to God for justice and mercy for the farmers.
At other times it has been the sick or troubled or lost souls. Always there is a result, a lifting of the burden. The answer comes. Recently it was for a dying man, his souls was important.
Being available is having our head in God's space and not allowing the cares of the world to interfere.
Partnering with God is an awesome experience. You are building the kingdom of God. Try it! Best experience ever! Amen!
