Kingdom Will
Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10
In heaven our God's will is a given, it is carried out without argument. Our Godparent is honoured and respected. Yet on earth there is a battle.
As a Christian my task is to establish the kingdom of God in my world. I am not here to live like the world or for myself, I am here to establish the kingdom of God.
How do I do this? By daily seeking my God and His ways and putting His ways before mine.
Jesus said, " seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness." Matthew 6:33
In this chapter, chapter 6 of Matthew Jesus firstly tells us what not to seek: treasures on earth; our life; what we eat; what we wear; money.
Jesus said it was more important to have a sound eye that sees what He sees than to have a corrupt eye that lusts after the things of the earth. "No one can be a slave to two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot be a slave to God and money." Matthew 6:23,24
Do we spend more time reading the shop magazines than His word? Do we waste hours in front of the TV being told the world's ways of living and being? If this is the case then we are 'of' the world and no longer 'of' heaven.
If I grow up learning a language of my home country and when I am older refuse to have anything to do with it, I will lose the ability to speak the language and I will forget all I have been taught. Many are brought up in church but have walked away, refusing to speak the language of heaven, refusing to stay connected to their God and their church family, they lose their Kingdom identity. Their become rootless and will struggle to find their identity.
Losing identity is painful, losing Christ is losing treasure indeed. What to do? Come home, just as the prodigal son was welcomed so will you be. Amen!
