Righteous Prayers

Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful he should sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they should pray over him after anointing him with olive oil in the name of The Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and The Lord will restore him to health; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. There, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The urgent request of a righteous man is very powerful in it's effect. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours; yet he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the land. Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land produced it's fruit. James 5:13-18

I find this scripture has been neglected somewhat now days. We run to doctors instead of elders. It is a pity as it appears that sickness can be a result of sin and doctors cannot forgive us our sins.

When we are cheerful we should sing praises not go to the beach for the day. God is our source of blessing He deserves our praise.

If I am suffering I should pray and burrow deep into my God who has my life in His hand. He is worthy of my focus, His Holy Spirit is my comforter and guide, if I let Him.

We are also told to confess our sins to one another. A sin hidden makes us sick of heart, if nothing else, whereas a sin uncovered brings humility and grace loves humility. Our God pours out grace and mercy towards us and when we are  humble we can receive grace and mercy but when we are arrogant we shun it.

An urgent request of a righteous man is very powerful in it's effect. Our prayers, when urgent and on behalf of others have an effect. Pray for others! Become Christ's hands and feet!

Elijah was just like us yet his prayers were effective. Pray!

Yesterday I saw two posts on Facebook from farmers out west. One was severe drought and the other bush fires. I reposted back, I am praying for you and I prayed. Take time to care for others and pray! Amen!
