Truth About Sin

Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that he had been condemned! was full of remorse and returned the 30 pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders. "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood,"he said.
"What is that to us?" They said. "See to it yourself!"
So he threw the silver into the sanctuary and departed. Then went and hanged himself. Matthew 27:3,4

Judas, being brought up as any Jewish boy was, knew the law. The law states in Deuteronomy 27:25  anyone who accepts a bribe to kill innocent blood is cursed.

Judas has spent 3 years with Jesus, the Son of God and watched Him forgive sins. Why did he not go to the Father and repent or find Jesus and repent?

There was a belief that criminals received atonement from God through their execution. Perhaps this is why the Pharisees said to Judas, "see to it yourself." Perhaps they agreed with this thought.

Judas' belief that the old way would be the right way, even though he knew more, chose to end his life.

Judas, like any of us, had an enemy, the one who used him to condem Jesus. Our enemy will use and accuse. He does not care for any living soul. He wants our destruction.

Recently there was a young man in my church who killed himself and a few weeks ago a client of mine killed himself. Why? I know my client was depressed. The enemy of his soul smothered him in darkness. Why did the Christian also do it? Possibly the same reason. Perhaps he had struggled with a mental condition.

Whatever the cause we know the root, the accuser and destroyer. He is a liar and cannot speak truth. He is the opposite of the Spirit of Truth.

I must stay close to the Holy Spirit because this is where I find truth, even when I sin. The word tells me: if I confess my sin, He is faithful and just to forgive my sin and cleanse me of all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Amen!
