The Royal Law
Indeed, if you keep the royal law prescribed in the Scripture, 'love your neighbour as yourself', you are doing well. But if you show favoritism, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever keeps the entire law, yet fails in one point, is guilty of breaking it all. For He who said, 'Do not commit adultery', also said, ' Do not murder.' So if you do not commit adultery but commit murder, you are a lawbreaker.
Speak and act as those who are judged by the law of freedom. For judgement is without mercy to the one who hasn't shown mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgement. James 2:8-13
The law of freedom is summed up by the apostle Paul when he wrote: ' therefore, ther is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death'. Romans8:1,2
The OT Law had many many hard to keep rules. But Jesus came to be the perfect sacrifice and fulfilled the law. My faith must be in His goodness, not my tardy attempts. This faith in Christ causes me to love my neighbour as myself. 1 Corinthians 13. (The love chapter) gives us the qualities of God's love. When this love is functioning in me then grace abounds to all who come near.
Now, we all fall short at times and need to repent. Lord I cannot do it but You in me can. I ask for your grace and mercy. Amen! Be kind to yourself, be kind to those who fail you. Amen!
