A Helper

Then God said, "it is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper  as his complement."
So The Lord God caused a deep sleep to come over the man, and he slept. God took one of his ribs and closed the flesh at that place. The Lord God made the rib He had taken from the man into a woman and brought her to the man. And tha man said:
" this one, at last, is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh; this one shall be called woman for she was taken from man, Genesis 2:18; 21-23

Between verses 18 and 21 God had Adam in the garden naming all the animals and also looking for a suitable companion. None was found. Now! The God who made Adam surely knew that none would be found. After all, He wired the man a certain way and knew exactly what would turn on his lights. Perhaps He did it so that Adam could understand how special his mate was when she arrived, perhaps it was for him to learn how unique he was.

However, God created woman from one of Adam's ribs. I have heard it said that woman came from a rib, so that it would be know she was man's equal, not form his head or neck or feet. Woman is neither greater or lower than man, she is equal. Amen!

The very first anaesthetic was given, the first operation was performed and what a miracle, a woman was fashioned from a rib. We know she was perfect because of Adam's words: " this one, at last, is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh." At last!

Man and woman we created to work as equals! To complement each other! To work together! Amen!
