Living Forever

Now while Paul waited for them in Athens his spirit was provoked within him when he saw re idolatry in the city.

Therefore he reasoned with the Jews in the synagogues and with Gentile 
worshipers and in the marketplace daily with those, who happened to be there.!
Acts 17:16,17

I watched the last Star Wars movie with my eldest grandson this evening. We had seen Darrh Vader die and subsequently be burner on a funeral pyre. Myer said, "Nanny, is there any way you can get up off that fire. I explained that when we die our families might bury us under ground or cremate us (burn us). But I explained that the real me is my spirit and it will go to The Lord for all eternity and that when I  die I will not have pain or suffering anymore. Myer lost a brother when he was unborn and I told him Timothy will be waiting to see him when he dies.

I grew up a catholic and we were not sure where we would go when we died. Having Jesus as Lord of our lives gives us certainty.

I wanted Myer to understand that death is closure for life on Earth but not life in eternity.

The Athenians heard about this Jesus, it was new and totally foreign to them. Some did go on to believe. Belief, active belief is the key to eternal life. Amen!

Little Things Grow

The boy's mother said to Elisha, "as The Lord lives and you yourself live, I will not leave you. So he got up and followed her. 2 Kings 4:30 The Shunamite woman had travelled to Mt Carmel to find Elisha after the death of her son. Although Elisha had sent his servant Gehazi to the boy with his staff the woman had come to find Elisha and was not leaving without him. I like this lady's spirit. I am sure The Lord God Almighty also valued her heart. She had a heart for God and made room for Him in her world. Now, having lost her son she knew what to do: find Elisha and not let him go until he came to restore her son. What made the Shunamite woman believe that Elisha could raise her son? Was it the same faith that made her provide him a place to stay in her home? I believe it was God working in her life. I am grateful for her faith, I can read and be encouraged.
