Now This is Power

Then some of the Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call on the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, "we exorcise you by Jesus whom Paul preaches." 

Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so.

And the evil spirit answered and said,  "Jesus I know and Paul I know, but who are you?"

Then the man in whom the evil spirit resided leaped on them, and prevailed against them, overpowering them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of the house naked and wounded.

This became known to Jews and Greeks  in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of The Lord Jesus was magnified. Acts 19:13-17

Who has the power? How easy it is for mankind to assume it has and foolishly step into an area that belongs to The Lord. He alone is God!

Paul knew The Lord as friend and Saviour. The Jews knew Him as ruler and judge. Thy assume this was enough. Jesus was the key. Knowing Him and his Holy Spirit provided the authority and the power.

The believer who has the relationship has the right. Evil forces recognise relationship and the authority that goes with relationship.

A son has more authority to transact on His Father's behalf that someone who merely knows the Father. Goods are not handed over to the casual and distant. Authority to receive goods belongs to sons.

Authority to take souls from the clutches of hell belong to sons of the Kingdom. Only God redeems all other gods bind in eternal damnation. Amen!
