Relationship or Route
"For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.
Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all your flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among the flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. Therefore watch, and remember ....."Acts 20:27-31
Jesus Himself said to His disciples: "One of you is. Devil!" And here Paul is telling the leaders a similar thing.
It is interesting to read in Revelation chapter 2 that Jesus commends the church at Ephesus for withstanding 'evil men', but rather the fact that they had lost their 'first love'.
We can be so focused in one area and neglect the source of freedom we were given, the relationship with Christ.
We can be so determine to grow and move on past our past that our delight in the freshness of the discovery of Christ takes second place.
As a grandmother of 7 children I can so easily be an adult around them and forget the magic of touching them in relationship. This past week I have done a lot of babysitting. When it all gets too much, especially when 6 children are all inside the house at once, I can zone out and play adult. (Clean, wash, bath, cook)
Yet when I had my daughter's two children alone for an afternoon and night and when I first arrived they were fractious. I knew that I could be adult and command my way through the time or connect. I chose to connect and we had a lot of fun.
We picnicked on sushi (home made of course) in the park, we played Monopoly and I taught them the finer points and strategies, along with protocols, rather than just playing the adult way. We made playdough models and created our own competition with secret ballots and finished the night with the Christmas story. All went to sleep satisfied.
Why am I telling you this? Any relationship can be done by route or with passion. Choose passion every time and bothe doses will stay connected and satisfied.
